The jam-packed programme of fundraising events for Weymouth Lifeboat Week continued.

Kicking off on Sunday, the annual fixture has seen a range of events and activities take place throughout the town to raise money for Weymouth’s RNLI branch.

Last night, the skills of the Coastguard and RNLI were played out to crowds in a set of different scenarios at Bowleaze Cove.

The RNLI beach lifeguards showed onlookers how to rescue a swimmer in distress using a surf board and a rescue boat, while the Weymouth RNLI lifeboats came to the rescue of a sinking crew.

The Coastguard Initial Response Team treated crowds to a rescue display demonstrating how to save a causality from the water using a tethered line method.

On Tuesday evening, the Weymouth Lifeboat team took part in a Stand-Up Paddle Board race at Ferry Bridge beach.

The Jumbo SUP event, organised by Billy Winters and Weymouth water sports and fitness centre, helped raised over £600 for the RNLI.

A spokesman for the RNLI said: “As soon as the start was given, they were off paddling like mad, all in perfect unison. They rounded the windward marker just in front and then managed to sail to the finish with a SUP length to spare.

“Thanks to all who took part and made it a fantastic success, and we look forward to next year where it is sure to be even bigger and better.

“One last thanks again to the lifeboat week events team who made it possible."
