FREE yoga sessions in the open air will be held in Weymouth.

Following the success of Park Yoga in Bournemouth, organisers have decided to start sessions in Lodmoor Country Park.

Park Yoga Weymouth will take place every Sunday from July 30 until September 24, from 9.30am until 10.30am in the park next to the the storytelling throne and stools close to the end of Grove Avenue.

Local yoga instructor Sharon George will be providing these free classes which are suitable for all ages and abilities.

The activity has been initially funded by the Fine Family Foundation and coordinated by Dorset Coast Forum, which is hosted by Dorset County Council.

Park Yoga Weymouth is supported by the Dorset Wildlife Trust, Friends of Lodmoor Country Park and Weymouth & Portland Borough Council.

The Fine Family Foundation which supports Dorset-based charitable bodies working in the environment, the arts, education and health, and also in community projects.

Director Sibyl Fine King said: “Park Yoga in Bournemouth Central Gardens has been extremely popular, with around 60 people joining in each week. We hope that Park Yoga Weymouth becomes just as successful and continues to benefit people in their health and wellbeing.”

Bridget Betts from the Dorset Coast Forum added: "We want to encourage healthy living, in a way that is fun and sociable.”

Park Yoga is one of the activities under the Natural Choices umbrella which brings together all the activities that take place in the natural environment.
