It was more a case of ‘the sun has got his rain hat on’ at the weekend as the soggy summer continued.
Torrential rain battered Dorset on Saturday, forcing the cancellation of summer fetes, fairs and sporting fixtures, or forcing organisers to switch to their wet weather plans and hold activities indoors.
Many events did go ahead as planned however, but families ensured they packed their wellies and raincoats.
It was a case of ‘singing in the rain’ at Dorset’s Camp Bestival which was hit by the worst weather in its 10 year history.
The festival site turned into a mudbath and campers faced a struggle to leave the site. But the thousands who attended the family-friendly pop festival in the grounds of Lulworth Castle didn’t let the rain dampen spirits.
The Milton Abbas Street Fair also went ahead and again, visitors faced a difficult time leaving the car parking fields which had been churned up by the rain. But the event was still very popular with many descending on the village for the traditional fair.
Meanwhile, all of the Dorset Cricket League matches were cancelled or abandoned due to the rain.
It was a lot drier yesterday and families will be pleased to hear there’s sunshine forecast at the beginning of this week. But the rain may not be gone for long.
