A Charity television and film convention will return for its second year.

The Greedy Goblin Con has been described as Dorchester’s answer to comic con and boasts a fun filled day for geeks and nerds everywhere.

Visitors will be able to meet stars from film and TV including Julian Glover, who is best known for portraying Grand Maester Pycelle in Game of Thrones.

The cosplay competition will also return for its second year, and the event’s organisers Stephen Ware and Marcus Smith are encouraging visitors to get involved.

They said: “We want to focus even more on cosplay this year, and encourage as many cosplayers as possible. In addition, our cosplay competition this year, which will be judged by three judges, will include a first-place cash prize of £50. Anyone wishing to enter may pre-register online at www.greedygoblincon.com.”

Other stars attending the event are Virginia Hey, best known for her roles in Farscape and Mad Max 2, and Paul Blake who played Greedo in the original Star Wars movie.

This year will also see the return of Andrew Lawden, who was a stand-in for Liam Neeson in Star Wars, the Phantom Menace.

Andrew will hold his ever popular “Jedi Academy” teaching cadets to “use the force” with lightsaber moves and routines.

The convention is an opportunity for fans to collect as many autographs as possible and quiz their TV heroes during Q and A sessions held throughout the day.

Visitors can also expect to meet their favourite fictional characters including a professional Captain Jack Sparrow actor, and Star Wars Droids and transformers actors.

A vintage gaming set-up will also be available for visitors to release their inner gamer.

A charity auction will also be held offering exciting props, merchandise and signed photos.

Stephen and Marcus added: “Last year we made over £3,000 profits on the day, which were donated to the Dorset County Museum and Smile with Siddy (a charity dedicated to the research of neuroblastoma cancer, most commonly found in children). This year, we hope to make even more, and our nominated charities are the RNLI, and a local charity, Hayley’s Hedgehog Rescue of Netherbury.”
