Out and about on the roads this week? Here's all the roadworks to be aware of on Highways England operated roads.

A spokesman for HE said the list is correct as of Friday, August 11, but is subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.

  • M3 junctions 2 (M25) to 4a Farnborough, Hampshire: smart motorway improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve journey times completed on Friday 30 June with the last of the cones removed and a new fourth lane open to traffic in both directions between junctions 2 and 4a. Work to test and commission the new smart motorway technology completed on Monday 31 July, with the fully upgraded road opening to traffic at the national speed limit.

The M25 anti-clockwise link road to the M3 southbound will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, on Monday 14 August for 5 nights. On Saturday morning work will finish at 7am. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M3 junction 1.

The M25 clockwise slip road to the M3 southbound will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, on Monday 14 August for 5 nights. On Saturday morning work will finish at 7am. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 junction 13, A30 and the A327 to the M3 junction 4a.

The M3 will be closed in both directions between junctions 3 and 4a overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, from Monday 14 August for 5 nights. On Saturday morning the work will finish at 7am. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A322, A30 and A327.

The M3 junction 2 northbound slip road to the M25 clockwise and anti-clockwise will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, on Tuesday 15 August for four nights. On Saturday morning work will finish at 7am. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M3 junction 1.

  • M3 junction 6 Basingstoke, Hampshire: bridge strengthening

Work to maintain journeys by repairing the bridge supports continues this week. Narrow lanes will be in place 24/7 on the roundabout beneath the M3 until February 2018.

  • M3 junctions 6 to 7 Basingstoke, Hampshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by completing resurfacing on the southbound carriageway near junction 7 finishes this week. Lane closures will be in place on the southbound carriageway overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Monday 14 August.

  • M4 junctions 8/9 Maidenhead to 10 Wokingham, Berkshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing a section of the westbound carriageway finishes this week. Lane closures will be in place on the westbound carriageway overnight, between 10pm and 6am, on Tuesday 15 August.

In addition, the M4 westbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, on Friday 18 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A404(M), A4 and A3290.

  • M4 junction 10 Wokingham, Berkshire: bridge reconstruction

Work to improve journeys by refurbishing the bridge that carries the link roads over the M4 continues this week. Narrow lanes and a 40mph speed limit are in place on the slip roads and a 50mph speed limit is in place on the M4 carriageway until November 2017.

  • M4 junction 11 Reading, Berkshire: road markings

Work to improve journeys by renewing the road markings along the M4 continues this week. The westbound entry slip road at junction 11 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, on Friday 18 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 10.

  • M4 junctions 12 Theale to 13 Chieveley, West Berkshire: bridge refurbishment

Work to improve journeys by refurbishing a series of bridges that carry the M4 over local roads continues this week. Narrow lanes and a 50mph speed limit will be in place 24/7 on the east and westbound carriageways until June 2018.
 
In addition, the M4 westbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, on Monday 14 August.

  • The M4 eastbound carriageway from junction 13 to junction 12 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, on Tuesday 15 August.

Clearly signed diversions will be in place via the A4.

  • M4 junction 15 Swindon, Wiltshire: surveys

Work to improve journeys by carrying out surveys of the network takes place this week. Lane closures will be in place on the east and westbound carriageways near Liddington overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Friday 18 August.

  • M27 junction 9 Whiteley, Hampshire: traffic signals

Work to improve journeys by maintaining the traffic signals at the junction takes place this week. Lane closures will be in place on the junction 9 roundabout and all approaches overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Tuesday 15 August for 2 nights.

  • A3(M) junction 1 to junction 5, Hampshire: surveys and road markings

Work to improve journeys by renewing the road markings and carrying out surveys to the drainage system along the A3(M) takes place this week. The A3(M) northbound carriageway from junction 2 to junction 1 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, on Monday 14 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A3 Portsmouth Road/London Road.

The A3(M) southbound carriageway from junction 1 to junction 2 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, on Tuesday 15 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A3 London Road/Portsmouth Road.

The southbound exit slip road at junction 1 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, on Wednesday 16 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 2.

Lane closures will be in place from junction 5 to junction 1 and the northbound entry slip road at junction 1 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, on Thursday 17 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 2.

  • A3 Sheet to Flexcombe, Hampshire: surveys

Work to improve journeys by carrying out surveys to the drainage system along the A3 continues this week. A lane closure will be in place on the north and southbound carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Friday 18 August.

  • A3 Guildford, Surrey: lighting replacement

Work to ensure road user safety by replacing the lighting columns between University Interchange and Compton continues this week. The A3 southbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Friday 25 August (Monday to Friday only). A clearly signed diversion route will be in place via Guildford.

  • A3 Burpham, Surrey: surveys

Work to improve journeys by carrying out surveys to the drainage system along the A3 continues this week. A lane closure will be in place on the northbound carriageway overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Monday 14 August.

  • A27 Farlington, Hampshire: street lighting

Work to ensure road user safety by maintaining the street lighting around the Eastern Road junction continues this week. The westbound exit slip road and the eastbound entry slip road at the junction will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, until Wednesday 6 September (Monday to Friday only). A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the Portsbridge Roundabout.

  • A31 Picket Post to Poulner Hill (Ringwood), Hampshire: surveys

Work to improve journeys by carrying out surveys to the drainage system along the A31 continues this week. Lane closures will be in place on the east and westbound carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 14 August for 3 nights.

  • A31 St Leonards, Dorset: resurfacing and road marking renewals

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing the A31 westbound carriageway at St Leonards and by renewing the road markings along the A31 continues this week. The A31 westbound carriageway will be closed from the Woolsbridge roundabout (Avon Heath Country Park) to Boundary Lane roundabout overnight, between 10pm and 6am, until Tuesday 15 August.

The A31 eastbound carriageway will be closed from the A347 Palmersford Roundabout (Ferndown) to the A338 Ashley Heath Roundabout overnight, between 10pm and 6am, on Wednesday 16 and Friday 18 August.

The A31 westbound carriageway will be closed from the A338 Ashley Heath Roundabout to the A347 Palmersford Roundabout (Ferndown) overnight, between 10pm and 6am, on Thursday 17 August.

During all closures a clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A338, Hurn, West Parley and Ringwood Road.

  • A31 Canford Bottom to Merley (Wimborne), Dorset: surveys

Work to improve journeys by carrying out surveys to the drainage system along the A31 continues this week. Temporary traffic lights will be in place on the A31 overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Tuesday 15 August.

  • A34 Highclere/Burghclere, Hampshire: surveys

Work to improve journeys by carrying out surveys to the drainage system along the A34 continues this week. Lane 1 of the A34 northbound carriageway and the northbound exit slip road at the Tothill Services will be closed overnight, between, between 9pm and 6am, from Thursday 17 August for 5 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the Wash Common junction.

  • A34 Abingdon, Oxfordshire: vegetation

Works to improve journeys by carrying out verge works near Abingdon takes place this week. The northbound exit slip road at the A415 Marcham Interchange will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Tuesday 15 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the Hinksey Hill Interchange.

  • A34 South Hinksey (Oxford), Oxfordshire: vegetation

Works to improve journeys by carrying out verge works takes place this week. The northbound entry slip from South Hinksey village will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Monday 14 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the Hinksey Hill Interchange.

  • A34 Islip, Oxfordshire: vegetation

Works to improve journeys by carrying out verge works near Islip takes place this week. The southbound entry slip road at the junction will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Thursday 17 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M40 junction 9 roundabout and return.

  • A303 Bullington to Popham, Hampshire: drainage

Work to improve journeys by maintaining the drainage system along the A303 starts this week. Lane closures will be in place on the east and westbound carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 14 August for four months (Monday to Friday only).

  • A303 Thruxton and Andover, Hampshire: bridge refurbishment

Work to improve journeys by refurbishing the bridges that carry the A303 over local roads near Thruxton and at Picket Twenty continues this week. Narrow lanes and a 50mph speed limit will be in place on both carriageways until January 2018. In addition, lane closures will be in place overnight, between 9pm and 6am (Monday to Friday only).

  • A404 Burchetts Green, Berkshire: drainage surveys

Work to improve journeys by carrying out drainage surveys along the A404 takes place this week. The southbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, on Monday 14 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via A404(M) junction 9b and return.
