The Weymouth RNLI lifeboat was called last night to retrieve an elderly woman from a cruise ship in Portland Port.
The all-weather lifeboat was launched at 7.05pm to carry out a medical evacuation from the Fred Olsen Balmoral cruise ship which had just set sail from the harbour.
Shortly after leaving the berth the passenger suffered a medical trauma and required hospital treatment.
The lifeboat team transferred the woman from the Balmoral onto the lifeboat and transported her and her husband to Weymouth Harbour.
A waiting first responder then took the casualty to Dorset County Hospital for further treatment.
