Firefighters from across the county were called to two different combine harvester fires over the weekend.

Crews from Weymouth, Sturminster Newton, Blandford and Bere Regis, alongside a water carrier from Yeovil, rushed to the blaze on one vehicle in Ansty just after 7.20pm yesterday evening.

The firefighters used compressed air foam to extinguish the flames whilst wearing breathing apparatus.

Just before 2.30pm on Saturday, crews from Mere, Tisbury, Shaftesbury, Gillingham and a water carrier from Yeovil extinguished a combine harvester fire which had spread to a field of crops in Chicklade.

Crews extinguished the blaze using two hose reel jets, one main jet and beaters while wearing four sets of breathing apparatus.
