Weymouth’s RNLI lifeboat was called to two separate yacht rescues this afternoon.
The inshore lifeboat launched on request of Solent Coastguard at 2.20pm to assist with a 35ft yacht which fouled a propeller near Redcliffe Point.
The lifeboat crew discovered a lone sailor to be safe and well and passed him a line to tow the yacht back to Weymouth Harbour where it was returned to its berth with the assistance of the Harbour Master.
Shortly after 4pm the lifeboat was launched again to reports that a yacht’s tender had capsized at Bowleaze Cove.
Once on the scene, the volunteer crew found that the tender, and its two occupants, a father and daughter, had safely made their way onto shore.
The lifeboat returned to Weymouth harbour at 4.20pm.
