Emergency services and an air ambulance were called after a man fell into water.

The man reportedly fell into Weymouth Harbour by the town bridge this afternoon. 

Police, ambulance and coastguard services were called to the scene.

A spokesman for Dorset Police said: "We were called by the ambulance service at 12:19pm to reports of concern for welfare of a man who had fallen into the water at the Quay bridge. 

"An air ambulance attended."

The air ambulance was spotted landing on The Marsh playing fields by members of the public.

A spokesman for South Western Ambulance Service said: "We received a call at 12:08.

"There was one male casualty, and we attended with two rapid response vehicles and one ambulance."

A spokesman for the UK Coastguard said the incident had been dealt with by the ambulance service before coastguard crews had reached the scene. 

The man was taken to Dorset County Hospital
