ROLL up, roll up the circus is in town and with it comes a show of world-class performers, spine-tingling acts and jaw-dropping extravagance.

The world-renowned Moscow State Circus will be performing its new show Gostinitsa in Lodmor Country Park, Weymouth until Tuesday.

The troupe have been perfecting the production for the last two years which promises circus-goers a whole new show suitable for all the family.

Circus manager Marnie Dock said: “There is certainly a lot of twists and turns in the show this year and for many of the performances it is their first time in England.

“A lot of people who come to see the show are often surprised that all the performers are Russian and have all trained in circus school in Moscow.

“At the circus schools, a lot of them have to go through basic training for four years before they’re even allowed to perform in public, so it’s very intense and these are expert performers.”

The high intensity line-up features Europe’s only double Russian swing act which somersault from one fast moving swing to another and the Alikhanov Troupe which perform their spinning, climbing and high-wire walking atop of two ten metre poles balanced on one man’s shoulder.

Award-winning clowns, the Chervotkins Duo, who have just ended a two-year stint in Las Vegas, will guide the audience through the show and from one breath-taking act to the next.

Trapeze artist Anna Rastsova said she cannot wait to get out in Weymouth’s big top and can "feel the adrenaline" every time she performs.

She said: “I am from a circus family and I am now the fourth generation of performers. I always wanted to perform, and against my parents’ wishes I went to circus college to learn the trapeze."

Although life on the road never stops, the performers have had chance to soak up some of the sights of the Jurassic Coast while in town.

Unicyclist Viktor Gorodetskyy, who has been in the circus since he was just three years old, said: “This is my first time in England and we have done about ten stops on the tour so far.

"It’s great to be in Weymouth, it’s a beautiful part of the country. We've walked along the promenade and to the beach, it's a very friendly town we like it a lot."
