TRANSPORT has been finalised for pupils soon to be travelling to the new Atlantic Academy Portland (AAP).

From September, students of the former Isle of Portland Aldridge Community Academy (IPACA) will relocate from the Osprey Quay site to the main campus at Maritime House in Southwell.

The school transport team at Dorset County Council has been working with the staff at AAP to make sure pupils can get to the new teaching site.

Hundreds of pupils will soon receive an e-mail detailing the two transport options which is either to use the existing service 1 operated by First or a dedicated school service solely for AAP students.

Chris Hook, the county council’s service manager for Dorset Travel said: “The change of site has created some challenges but we have been working closely with the Atlantic Team and the transport is being finalised for the majority of students.

“There may be gaps in the data that may leave some students without a travel pass for 11 September.”

The troubled academy became part of the highly-regarded Aspirations Academies Trust after being put into special measures at the beginning of the year.

It is hoped the move will help the island’s only secondary school get back on track come September.

Any parents who think their child is entitled to transport and has not received an email can apply online at www.dorsetforyou.gov.uk/AAP-entitled-school-service
