Like a scene from Hot Fuzz a passing police officer assisted in the removal of a swan from, would you believe it, Swannery Bridge.
The bird was almost singing its swan song when it wandered into the busy road at around 8.30pm last night.
Simon Pegg and Nick Frost weren't on hand to assist so it was left to motorists and a passing police car to halt traffic and herd the swan to safety.
The passer-by who took the video said they had assumed there had been an accident as they could see blue flashing lights and traffic was backed up and at a standstill.
On closer inspection, he discovered the chaos was caused by the apparently indifferent swan.
Dorset Police said there received no reports about the wayward bird and the police car must have been coincidentally passing at the time.
The 2007 comedy, Hot Fuzz, starred Pegg and Frost was about two unfortunate rural police officers who, in one memorable scene, are tasked with catching a swan.
