The English Civil War Society will be hosting a re-enactment at Corfe Castle this weekend.

One of the most dramatic chapter's in the Norman stronghold's history will be brought to life.

National Trust spokesman Jon Bish said: "We'll be recreating the act of treachery which brought the castle to its knees despite a heroic defence by a handful of Royalist diehards."

Running alongside the re-enactments will also be the chance to try all the best sellers from the Corfe Castle tea rooms' special 2017 Sconathon.

Jon said: "If all that sounds a bit indulgent, remember you’re helping the National Trust look after Corfe Castle because all the money we make goes back into our work protecting special places for everyone to enjoy."

Corfe Castle tea-rooms can be found in The Square, to the left of the entrance to the castle itself.

Civil War: Besieged and Betrayed takes place, September 9-10, from 10am-5pm on both days.
