A DIVER was airlifted to hospital after missing a decompression stage.
A dive boat eight nautical miles west of Portland Bill called the coastguard at 2.45pm on Saturday.
The skipper was put in contact with a diving doctor who advised the diver, who was showing no symptoms, to attend hospital as a precautionary measure.
Due to the distance of the boat offshore, it was decided the diver should be airlifted to hospital.
Poole coastguard manned the helicopter landing site at Whitecliff before the diver was taken to Poole Hospital to be checked over at the recompression chamber.
