A specialist children’s charity is seeking new volunteers.

The Dorchester Opportunity Group, a preschool supporting two to four-year-olds with additional needs, is keen to hear from people interested in becoming trustees or drivers for the charity.

Based at the Prince of Wales Preschool Centre in Dorchester, the group is the only specialist setting in West Dorset helping children with a range of conditions from Speech and Language Delay, Autism Spectrum Disorder and Down’s Syndrome.

All children who benefit from the work of the group are referred by paediatricians, health visitors, speech and language therapists or social workers.

The centre helps encourage children by using a range of expertise from language therapy and movement sessions to family outreach programmes.

Over the past 25 years it has taken children from Dorchester, Bridport and Weymouth and offers transport from Weymouth and Dorchester to the group for those who may struggle to access the setting.

It is now seeking volunteer drivers over 25 to help with the driving. Each trip includes a qualified member of staff.

The charity, which was rated ‘Outstanding’ from Ofsted, is also looking for Trustees, ideally with experience in IT and Education.
