THERE'S  few days left to see a camera club's photography exhibition which is helping to launch the new season.

Weymouth Camera Club is showcasing all the photographs that were entered in its May competition at the Mulberry Gallery in Weymouth Library.

The exhibition is open this week until Saturday, September 23 during the library’s open hours.

It is hoped the exhibition will help to attract new members to the club for the 2017/2018 season.

Liam Goodall of Weymouth Camera Club said: “The exhibition is something we have been doing for several years. It is a great opportunity to advertise the club before our new season from October to May. We accept photographers of all abilities.

“The exhibition will include all the photographs submitted in our annual competition. There will be a range of subject matter as the exhibition features work from all our members, there will be a range of abilities.

“This year there will be more than 100 photographs shown.”

Visitors can expect pictures from Dorset and beyond with categories including nature, humour and this year’s challenge category - 'Something beginning with L'.

Visitors will also be able to vote for their favourite exhibition photograph. The winner will receive a prize and will be announced on the club's website.

The first meeting for the 2017/2018 season will be a social evening playing skittles at the Centenary Club in Weymouth on Tuesday, September 26 at 7.30pm. Photographers of all abilities are welcome.

Weymouth Camera Club has had a successful 2016/2017 season. The club was victorious in its inter club competitions against Poole Camera Club and Portland Camera Club. It also achieved fourth place in the Wessex Battle, a photography competition between camera clubs across Dorset.

The club’s members have also had some of their photographs included in copies of the echo throughout the year.
