Poundbury will be starring in an upcoming episode of a new sci-fi series.

In March, Hollywood star Timothy Spall was spotted filming takes for the series in Poundbury’s Buttermarket Square.

The work of Philip K Dick has been turned into an anthology series called Electric Dreams and is already proving to be a gripping watch.

The BAFTA award-winning actor, of Harry Potter and The King’s Speech fame, will be starring the episode 'The Commuter' which will be aired on Channel 4 this Sunday.

Spall stars as a train employee, who becomes alarmed to discover daily commuters taking the train to a town that should not exist.

The anthology series is made up of 10 standalone episodes set in their own unique and drastically different worlds.

The first episode of the series, The Hood Maker, was aired on Channel 4 on Sunday, September 17.

The final four stories will be broadcast in early 2018.

Each episode is littered with stars from both the big and small screen.

Spall is joined by Bryan Cranston from Breaking Bad and singer and actress Janelle Monae as well as Anne Reid, Anna Paquin, Steve Buscemi, Terrence Howard and Richard Madden.

Philip K Dick is responsible for writing futuristic classics including Minority Report, Blade Runner and Total Recall.

In March crews spent two days filming in Buttermarket before heading over to nearby Holmead Walk for further filming.

Speaking at the time, a member of the production team, Left Bank, told the Echo that Poundbury was chosen for filming because it is "distinctive and picturesque".

Although a lot of business owners in Poundbury believed the filming to be good for the town some were concerned about the lack of consultation from The Duchy of Cornwall and the loss of takings from disruption around the square.

*Electric Dreams continues at 9pm on Channel on Sunday, October1 with Episode 3: The Commuter.
