An animal rescue charity has been given a generous sum of money to help pay for a new barn.

Margaret Green Animal Rescue in Church Knowle was given a donation of £630 by Land and Wave, a Swanage based outdoor adventure company, which specialises in adventure trips for children.

Land and Wave held a number of high-adrenaline activities to raise money for the much-needed barn, including coasteering and paddle boarding.

Director of Land and Wave, Owen Senior, presented the cheque to the animal charity in the form of a bodyboard.

He said: “We’re thrilled to have raised so much money for such a great local cause.

“As an owner of three dogs, four pigs and eight chickens, I really appreciate the hard work they do.

“Our aim is to make people happy through adventure.

“We love to introduce people of all ages and backgrounds to new experiences in the great outdoors. Dorset is a wonderful adventure playground and we love sharing that with people.”

Jenni Wilkinson, the commercial manager of the animal charity, welcomed the donation.

She said: “Our new barn is a big project for us, so when Land and Wave offered to raise funds we were really excited to have them on board.

“The barn is currently being built at our Church Knowle rehoming and visitor centre.”

“It’s a huge thank you from all the staff and animals at the charity, and shows how much fun there can be had when fundraising.

“We’re really looking forward to partnering with Owen and his team in the future.”

Margaret Green Animal Rescue was set up in 1965 and has been rescuing, nursing and rehoming animals ever since. They care for around 1,200 animals every year across three centres.

The Church Knowle centre covers 35 acres of beautiful Purbeck countryside. It is home to cats, horses, donkeys, pigs, sheep, goats, rabbits, chickens, ducks and many more species. It is also a visitor centre and is open seven days a week between 10am and 4pm.

The new barn will be used to home a number of new animals in need of shelter.
