The Encore Singers are preparing to raise the roof of Weymouth Bay Methodist church in aid of the Royal Voluntary Service.

Musical director Julie McFarlane will lead the professional group in an Autumn Concert attended by the Mayor Kevin Brookes and Mayoress Anne Brookes.

The Encore Singers were formed in 1998 with the intention of bringing people together as social activity to encourage community and help those who have never sung before.

Regular performers in the Weymouth and Dorchester area, the group are well known for their show song medleys and old time favourites.

Royal Voluntary Service (RVS) manager Maria Jacobson said: “We are very much looking forward to this event, and are delighted the Mayor and Mayoress will attend.

“The Encore Singers are known for their wonderful music and cheerful performances, and I cannot wait to see them at the beautiful Weymouth Bay Methodist Church.”

All money raised will be donated to RVS which supports older residents by providing a home library service and a befriending service across Dorset.

Homemade cakes and refreshments will be available during the interval along with a raffle and crafts.

The concert takes place at 7.30pm on Saturday, October 21.

Doors will open at 7pm.

Tickets cost £5 for adults and are available from the RVS Office, High West Street, Dorchester, or by calling 01305 236666.
