It’s time to rock out and raise funds to support a brave toddler who suffers from cerebral palsy.

Sian Ellard has organised a one-night music festival to help purchase a specialised wheelchair to enable her two-year-old son Ralphie to move around independently.

'Rockin for Ralphie' will take place at Weymouth Pavilion on Friday, November 10 with an impressive line up of performers all donating their time free of charge for the toddler’s cause.

Ralphie, who was born nine weeks premature, suffered sever brain damage which has left him with speech and muscle problems and limits his ability to walk, crawl or eat normally.

Sian, who lives in Weymouth with her partner Dominic and other two children, said: "The wheelchair will be built personally for Ralphie and it will grow with him.

"As he can’t really use his right side he will be able to control the chair from its left wheel. At the moment he is always on the floor or being carried so it will give him that freedom to move independently."

Currently Ralphie uses a Whizzybug which the family have on a loan scheme, but he cannot control it and can only sit in it for a short period of time.

Sian said the wheelchair would help Ralphie, who has just started nursery, interact with his peers.

"He has just started going and he absolutely loves it. At the moment it is just about getting him comfortable around other children and in a new environment."

Headline acts for the evening include The Leggomen, Milk & Two, Under the Carousel, Hustle, Chloe Tom & Jack on the Box, Total Madness.

Sian, who has been organising the event since June with the help of Julie Cleaver of Popcorn Marketing, said she has been 'overwhelmed' by the response from people wanting to perform and help with the event.

She said: “So many people have wanted to be involved, the posters, the security on the night and even the sound engineers are all volunteering their time for free.

"It’s been amazing. I thought I would have to fight a little bit to get bands, but in the end we had too many."

The night will include a cash bar and a specialised Prosecco Bar with all proceeds going to Ralphie's fund.

Tickets for the event are prices at £12 and are available from the Weymouth Pavilion box office.
