Things are getting spooky at Portland Museum.

A Hallowe’en event will be taking place at the museum from 10.30am to 4pm on Friday, October 27.

There will be lots of activities suitable for children to get involved.

A spokesman said: “There will be four spooky themed crafts to make and take and a Halloween biscuit to ice and decorate.

“A scary Halloween Hunt will take you on a tour around the Museum as you try and find the missing objects and get a prize if you do!

“Fancy dress is welcome and a small prize awaits those who get their spooky costumes on.”

Refreshments will be available throughout the day for snacks and lunch.

Located at Wakeham, above Church Ope Cove, Portland Museum was founded in 1930 by Dr Marie Stopes and houses its collection in two early 17th Century stone cottages.

One of the cottages found fame as the home of Avice, the heroine of Thomas Hardy’s novel The Wellbeloved, as the writer was so inspired by the location.
