I ATTENDED the recent presentation of the new town centre plans for Dorchester by WDDC.
I was not assured by the promise of a proper public consultation on the plans, eg WDDC do not have a good record in past public consultations.
A proposal: Send a questionnaire to all Dorchester residents. This can easily be done, Dorchester town council send a quarterly newsletter to all residents, a questionnaire could be included in this? Questions to be asked;
A – Do we want the market relocated?
B – Do we need more shops? Or do we fill up Brewery Square, South Street and Arcades up first?
C – Do we need more affordable housing, especially for rent?
D – Do we want to retain Dorchester as a Heritage and Historic market town and encourage more tourism?
All Dorchester citizens deserve a say in the plans and must be properly consulted.
