A television personality joined the Weymouth Probus for its annual dinner.

Guest speaker Paul Atterbury, the well-known antiques expert from the BBC’s Antiques Roadshow, attended the event at the Nothe Fort.

Mr Atterbury, who lives in Weymouth, gave an entertaining talk on his life and career as a freelance writer, antiques expert, broadcaster and organiser of national arts and cultural exhibitions.

Among many other things, he revealed he is the author of more than thirty books on subjects ranging between walking and rambling, railways, antiques and antique collecting and guides to many interesting aspects of modern life.

The Weymouth Probus Club is a long-established which provides social contact and companionship for retired men from professional, business and any other occupational backgrounds.

It meets monthly at the Crown Hotel for informal get-togethers over coffee, followed by absorbing talks on wide-ranging subjects of local or topical interest given by well-known speakers.

The club also runs events such as lunches, dinners and outings etc, and looks after the welfare and social interests of its members.
