Three medal-winning Olympians will be speaking at an event organised by a Fordingbridge-based conservation charity.

Sporting shooter Peter Wilson and the world-famous Brownlee brothers will be inspiring an audience at the Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust’s (GWCT) event in December.

Located at Duke’s Fine Art Salerooms, there will be drinks, canapés, raffle prizes, including a bike ride with Alistair and Jonny Browlee to be won, and question and answer session.

Peter, a life member of GWCT, will be hosting the two-hour evening on Tuesday, December 5 where he will be chatting with the triathletes and also sharing experiences from his own illustrious career.

The 31-year-old set a double trap world record in 2012, shooting 198 out of 200 in Tuscon, Arizona, before clinching gold at London Olympics.

And now, Peter has announced he’s coming out of retirement to compete at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics - in a different discipline, the Olympic trap.

Talking ahead of the event, Peter says he’s excited about the glamorous evening in his hometown organised by GWCT’s Dorset committee of which his father is a member.

“It’s a real opportunity for people to come together and learn about different sports as well as what the GWCT is all about,' he said.

“I’m a life member of the Trust and I think it does some amazing things in conservation.

“Hopefully the audience will enjoy it and I will be asking the Brownlee brothers, both of whom are keen shooters, some tasty questions, from drugs in sport to the strict dietary requirements they fulfil. It promises to be a great night.”

Peter met the famous siblings in 2012 during filming for a one-off BBC show called Superstars which featured 16 athletes from London’s Team GB gunning to be the best all-round star. The special show saw heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua and rower Helen Glover crowned champions.

The triathlete brothers captured the nation’s hearts in 2016 when Olympic double-gold medallist Alistair Brownlee gave up his chance to win the World Triathlon Series race to help his exhausted brother Jonny, the 2012 Triathlon World Champion, over the finish line.

GWCT county-chairman for Dorset, Oliver Chamberlain, added: “This is a unique occasion and opportunity for the Trust in Dorset.

“We’re really looking forward to having the Brownlee brothers and Peter Wilson attend.”

The event, sponsored by Duke’s Auctioneers, starts at 6.30pm.
