Do you have a love of history and want to be involved in an exciting new development?

Shire Hall, the old crown court on High West Street in Dorchester, will be opening for visitors in March 2018 as a new historic courthouse museum, with a café and shop.

The building work is progressing well and an exciting programme of events and activities is already underway - but more volunteers are needed to ensure the project remains on target and runs smoothly.

In preparation for opening next year, Shire Hall is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join the team to provide a friendly welcome to its visitors and shoppers and to support staff with the work they do at Shire Hall.

Anne Brown, Shire Hall learning manager said: "Volunteers have already started work at Shire Hall, with our team supporting us in lots of different areas, and enjoying regular meetings and tours of Shire Hall.

"It is an exciting time to join Shire Hall as we near the opening of our new Historic Courthouse Museum. If you would like to part of this unique opportunity and volunteer at Shire Hall, or would like further information, please get in contact."

There are a variety of roles available including reception desk and gift shop assistants and visitor experience assistants at the front of house, as well as lifelong learning assistants and office support including business and finance, marketing and publicity, fundraising, DIY and more.

Shire Hall is looking for friendly and enthusiastic people who enjoy meeting new people, have a love for history and historical buildings and who want to develop their skills are experience.

Volunteers at Shire Hall will receive on-going training for their role.
