An online Christmas auction is hoped to give that extra SPARK to a charity in need.

Southill Play Area Recreation for Kids (SPARK) is an initiative launched by mums Helen Lainsbury and Sarah Polkinghorne in 2011, to develop recreational facilities for young people in the area.

With the support of Pete Barrow and other volunteers the charity has been working tireless to help improve the area of Southill.

Helen said: "We are still working to improve recreational facilities at the park in Southill. Recently we have become a bit side tracked with trying to save the youth club from closing down, but now we want to turn our attention back where we started, the park.

"In the short term we are fundraising towards getting a new piece of play equipment to get things started.

"We are always trying to come up with new ways to raise funds and we got together and thought an online auction would be a great idea. My friend has done something similar and she managed to raise £1,000.

"We've had some great donations so far but we are still hoping to have a few more. There is such a wide selection of donations so hopefully there is something for everyone which will draw in the numbers.

"The massive bows seem to have come back into fashion so we have them. We also have jigsaws, books, clothes, gift sets, toys and some fantastic vouchers from The Pet Experience, Precision Engraving and Shampers of Southill.

"All the money will be going directly to SPARK.

"If the person buying at the auction doesn't live locally then they will just need to pay for postage but if they live locally then I will happily come over and deliver it to their door."

SPARK recently held a Hallowe'en lantern walk in Southill, SPARK in the dark, which raised £85.

The auction will be live from 7pm on Wednesday, November 22 until 10pm on Thursday, November 23.
