A NEW store has opened at Poole’s Dolphin Shopping Centre, and a popular pop-up store is also set to make a return.

Trainer and sports fashion retailer JD has taken a 6,120sqft unit in the centre. It follows the news that H&M will be opening at the two-storey former BHS site in the New Year.

A Poole Pirates pop-up shop is opening on Saturday to celebrate the success of the world famous speedway motorcycle team.

The shop will be located on the first floor of the shopping centre. A grand opening is planned from 10am until 4.30pm.

John Grinnell, centre manager at the Dolphin Shopping Centre, said it was an “exciting time for retailers to join the line-up”.

“We’ve received great feedback from customers shopping in JD already – it’s especially popular with our younger shoppers.”

Lisa King, retail liaison manager at the Dolphin Shopping Centre, said: “The countdown has begun to the opening of the Poole Pirates pop-up shop and we’re delighted that they’re returning to the centre; last year’s pop-up shop was massively successful.”

Matt Ford, owner of Poole Speedway, added: “To celebrate the club’s 70th anniversary in the sport, we have enhanced the design of the club’s image with a striking new logo. We can’t think of a better way of getting the word out to the people of Poole than taking a position in the Dolphin Shopping Centre, the area’s number one shopping destination.”

Legal & General recently reached an agreement with the Borough of Poole in June to restructure the existing headlease arrangements into a single, longer lease, unlocking a £26 million programme of investment. The improvement programme will focus on an internal mall refresh, improvements to the open-air Falkland Square and Kingland Crescent - including work to the public realm and shop facades - in addition to a redevelopment of the former Argos building to create a new nine-screen Empire cinema with four restaurants.

Mr Grinnell added: “Attracting top brands to the centre is really important to secure its position as a significant attraction on the south coast for tourists and residents alike. Combined with the improvement works, we’re determined to significantly improve the facilities to appeal to all our customers.”
