A DARKLY funny and poignant play will be performed tonight and tomorrow.

Two, a play by Jim Cartwright, will be performed by BareBulb Theatre at Buckland Newton Village Hall tonight and Loders Village Hall tomorrow.

Two of the area’s professional actors will take to the stage at Loders Village Hall tomorrow as they near the end of a Dorset tour of nine venues in all.

Two, by Jim Cartwright of Road and The Rise and Fall of Little Voice fame, is set in a northern pub in the late 1980s.

The actors, Julie Wood of Bridport and Fraser Wilson of Gillingham, play all 14 parts in this darkly funny and poignant play. They are the landlady and landlord sweet-talking the customers while biting each other’s heads off, and the dozen regulars who come in and out during the evening.

Fraser and Julie both have experience in theatre, television and film and met while performing together with Equity. They chose to tour village halls because of their intimacy, which they felt fitting for the play, and because of the culture-loving communities present in Dorset’s villages.

Julie is particularly happy at playing in Loder’s as she has long had an association with the school there; she has taught drama and dance there for many years and written, directed and produced a number of school plays performed in the village hall.

*Two is at Buckland Newton Village Hall on November 23 and Loders Village Hall on November 24. It will also be at Motcombe Village Hall on November 25.

All performances start at 7.30pm. For tickets and more information contact juliepwood@aol.com or fraserwilson99@hotmail.co.uk Tickets can also be bought on the door priced at £9.
