A date has been confirmed for a new state-of-the-art fitness centre to open on the Granby Industrial Estate.

As reported, more than £1million has been invested into the new centre, Zone Fitness, which will occupy in excess of 19,000 square feet and is expected to generate 13 new jobs.

The fitness centre, located at the old office space at Leanne House on Avon Close, is a joint business venture between Mickey Jones of DJ Property and Andrew Dick of Blue Fitness.

DJ Property has now appointed Neil Solmon as general manager at Zone Fitness.

Mr Solman has more than 30 years’ experience in health club management, including local authority and large private fitness chains. Mr Solman also has vast experience as a personal trainer, a UK and international fitness presenter for group exercise in dance fitness and bespoke training concepts.

Mr Solmon said: “This is a fantastic project and an exciting time for the residents of South Dorset, a bespoke, state of the art fitness facility suitable for everyone. The club will offer the latest in training facilities, equipment and group exercise within a friendly fun and motivational culture.”

He added: “We have set our standard high and have included premium equipment. The team have invested a large amount of time and money in the design of the fitness centre."

Introductory Membership packages will be on sale in December with special introductory membership offers and no joining fee.

The gym has been designed to have large specifically zoned areas, so fitness fanatics can easily target the areas they feel they need to work and improve on. The centre will have two large studios for group classes, the Revolution Zone, a spin studio which holds 23 bikes and the Survival Zone, which will be a boot camp area.

The Relaxation Zone will display a 55” television screen, gym towels and padlocks for lockers. It will not only be members that have the opportunity to relax in the area, but members of the public can also spend time there.

Mickey Jones, chief executive of DJ Property said: “Zone Fitness is just what south Dorset has been waiting for. We have invested time in and design of the equipment and the interior of the fitness centre to ensure that the atmosphere, conditions and ease of use is second to none for all of our members.

"We will be running more than 100 fitness classes each week, which will give members flexibility and choice when choosing their fitness regimes and targets.”

Zone Fitness will open to the public on Monday, January 29.
