Staff at a Weymouth store are celebrating after a triple win at prestigious industry awards.

The team from Londis in Westham Road took home three trophies at the Independent Achievers Academy's (IAA) glittering awards ceremony in London.

Held at 8 Northumberland Avenue, the IAA Gala Dinner recognised retailers who had 'performed brilliantly' across 12 categories with the evening culminated in the crowning of the IAA Overall Best Shop.

The store made it the final four in three categories and took home the trophies in the 'effective ranging' and 'staff development' categories.

They also took home the top accolade of the night, bagging the 'overall best shop' prize.

Store manager, Dave Hiscutt said: "It's absolutely fantastic. I'm so pleased. We often enter these competitions and use the benchmarking process to make sure we are on track and find ways to do things better but to actually win the overall prize, well it's very humbling and of course brilliant.

"It's fantastic for the team to get that recognition for all the hard work they put in."

Mr Hiscutt said to enter the competition, stores were initially required to benchmark themselves honestly on a list of 12 criteria which helps to highlight both strengths and weaknesses of the business.

Businesses then received an in-store assessment which was fed back to a panel of judges, who then to whittled down a top 100 list.

The Londis store was shortlisted for the finals in October before ultimately taking home the prizes last week.

Speaking of his 'overall best shop win', a spokesperson from the IAA said: "Dave stood out because he has a clear idea of where he wants to go and a future strategy to get him there. He told his story brilliantly, clearly showing his passion for retail, data and his staff and has thought about who he needs to engage to energise the people in each area of the shop to help him achieve success.

"Over the past three years Dave has used the IAA to make significant changes and it is clear that everything has been brought together to create a forward thinking, fantastic looking convenience shop."
