A determined nine-year-old has raised hundreds of pounds for Children in Need.

James Rowe from Charlton Down, who likes a challenge, decided he wanted to put his fitness to the test and cycle more than 20k for charity.

With the support of his family and friends, James cycles 25k from Charlton Down to Chesil Beach on Portland.

Proud father, Declan Rowe said: "He came up with the idea all on his own. He decided he wanted to do something for Children in Need and since he loves cycling that's what he went with.

"Originally is was only going to be about 5k but somehow it ended up being a lot more.

"The incline from Dorchester to Weymouth was definitely a challenge - that incline can be a killer.

"We're all really proud of James - he's raised nearly £700."

Along with his father, James was also joined by his aunty Marilyn, cousin Callum, his uncle Shaun and aunty Elaine, his mother Catherine and friends Emma, Richard, Robert and Helen.

James biggest supporter was his little sister Elizabeth, aged eight.

Mr Rowe added: "I don't think this will be James' last challenge. I think he will definitely be looking to do more in the New Year.
