A coastguard team were called to investigate reports of a drifting dinghy.
Wyke Coastguard Rescue was paged at 4.25pm yesterday afternoon to reports that the dinghy was drifting in the Fleet off Weymouth coast.
Four team members searched an area from the bridging camp to Ferrybridge, but their search was hampered as darkness set in.
A spokesman said: "With nothing untoward found the team were stood down an hour or so after the initial tasking."
