YOUNGSTERS have the chance to take part in up to two free workshops in Weymouth in performing arts.

Activate Performing Arts is offering young people studying GCSE and A-levels (or equivalent), up to two free workshops from a choice of contemporary dance, musical theatre, devising theatre, Music Performance and Music Technology.

The workshops will take place at the Bay Theatre studios at Weymouth College on Tuesday, February 6.

The purpose of the day is to allow individuals to gain experience as to what they can expect if they wish to continue learning dance, theatre and music at further and higher education. The workshops will be delivered by industry professionals.

The day will give an insight into what is to be expected if studying performing arts or music at Laban, Millennium and Weymouth College and participants will gain a deeper understanding as to what their courses offer.

Activate’s dance producer Michaela Shaw said: "The workshops will be delivered by leading specialists currently working and performing in the industry, alongside teaching on FE and HE courses.

"The offer has been sent out to schools, however individuals can apply also. There are a limited number of spaces for each workshop; therefore spaces will be allocated on a first come first served basis."

To book a place on one of the workshops, contact Michaela Shaw or Samantha Gillingham at dyd@activateperformingarts.org.uk or call 01305 260954.
