A person had to be cut free from their car following a crash on Weymouth Relief Road.

Police were called just before 10.30pm last night to reports that a car had hit a barrier at Ridgeway Hill.

A Vauxhall Astra was involved in the collision.

A spokesman for Dorset Police said: "We were called to reports of a single vehicle collision.

"Ambulance was requested, and fire was also called to take the roof off the car.

"The local authority was called because a 20m section of fence was damaged."

Paramedics attended with an ambulance and a rapid response vehicle, and treated the person who had suffered a back injury.

They were taken to Dorset County Hospital for treatment.
