It's always interesting to read another letter from Richard Denton-White.
To have so much knowledge about everything contained within one individual is miraculous.
His latest missive gives a potted history of Britain and tells me, as a right-wing Leave voter, that I must pick up a history book and challenge some of my “dangerously ignorant assumptions”.
I’m already fairly well acquainted with British history over the years but his reference to “Polish young men willing to lay down their lives in the Battle of Britain” has me baffled.
The reason they, and many others from differing countries and creeds fought with, and alongside us, was to preserve democracy.
The definition of democracy: Government by the people, rule of the majority.
The result of the referendum to remain/leave the EU, just in case he missed this historical fact, was the majority voted to leave.
