A business on the Granby Industrial Estate was hit by an overnight break-in.

Police said a safe was broken into at Granby Roofing and Building Supplies (GRBS).

Officers were called at 7.36am on Friday to the business in Cumberland Drive.

It’s suspected the burglary occured sometime between 5.20pm on Thursday and 7.25am the following morning.

A spokesman for Dorset Police said: “An investigation is underway and enquiries are being carried out.

“Police are currently reviewing CCTV, and will be speaking to local businesses to see if anything was witnessed.

“So far, no arrests have been made.

“Investigations are ongoing.”

Directors at Granby Roofing and Building Supplies did not want to comment.

Granby developer and landlord Mickey Jones, of DJ Property, said: “I’ve been talking to the directors of the company.

“From speaking to the company, I’m confident police will find the perpetrator due to good CCTV within the business.

“The property is well protected and secure, with the perpetrators having difficulties in getting in.”

He added: “Thankfully, crime on the Granby estate is low, with incidents few and far between.”

GRBS has been operating as building merchants in Weymouth since 2008.

Dorset Police are appealing for witnesses and more information to contact call 101.
