Bus services operating on the Dorset coast are among the nation’s most scenic routes, according to a new online poll.

Bus Users UK has nominated two of the Purbeck Breezer routes for a prestigious accolade. And voting is now open for those who want to endorse the route.

Purbeck Breezer route 40 travels through the county’s rich countryside from Swanage to Poole. The breathtaking Corfe Castle and market town of Wareham can also be enjoyed along the way.

Purbeck Breezer route 50 from Bournemouth to Swanage goes via Sandbanks, on-board the Sandbanks ferry and through the beautiful beaches and countryside that Purbeck is famous for.

Both are operated by Morebus.

General manager Adam Keen said: “We are incredibly lucky to be blessed with wonderful coast and countryside here in Dorset, so I’m not at all surprised these two routes are among the top contenders.

“There are of course other beautiful landscapes across the UK, but we don’t think any other bus routes can compete with these, with the wonderful views on offer.

“Those who travel on our Purbeck Breezer 50 service have the opportunity to do so on open-top buses during the warmer months of the year - making the experience even more memorable. We’re hopeful those who have journeyed with us along these routes will show their support by voting for us.”
