Are you turning 70 this year?

Then one local hospital might have a very special invitation for you.

This year one of the nation’s most-loved institutions, the National Health Service, turns 70 and Dorset County Hospital is asking for your help to celebrate this milestone anniversary.

The NHS was founded on July 5, 1948 as one of the significant social reforms after the end of the Second World War.

The 70th anniversary offers the perfect opportunity to celebrate the service’s achievements and take a look back at how much has changed in the last seven decades.

As part of the local celebrations the DCH is hoping to find people who were born in Dorchester who share a birthday with our health service, so they can be invited to a special celebratory event.

DCH communications manager Susie Palmer said: “As part of the celebrations happening locally we are trying to track down people who were born at Dorset County Hospital on July 5, 1948 so we can invite them to a special tea party to mark the occasion.

“If you were born in Dorchester on that date or know someone who was please do get in touch so we can invite people to join in with our celebrations.”

The hospital is also keen to collect copies of old photographs for social media and a display.

“We are also collecting old photos of Dorset County Hospital and our staff from over the decades.

“It would be brilliant if current and former staff could have a rummage in their lofts for photographs of themselves and colleagues from days gone by so we can share them and show how much the NHS has changed, especially uniforms,” Susie said.

Anyone who can help track down people born on the mentioned date or provide photos are asked to get in touch with Susie Palmer on 01305 254683 or communications@dchft.nhs.uk
