A woman has been taken to hospital following a collision involving a car and a pedestrian.

Police and ambulance services were called to Littlemoor Road at around 10.35am this morning.

A black Ford Fiesta was involved in the collision. 

A spokesman for Dorset Police said: "A woman has been taken to Dorset County Hospital, her injuries are not believed to be serious."

A spokesman for South Western Ambulance service said: "We attended with three ambulances, one rapid response vehicle and a helicopter.

"A female patient was taken to Dorset County Hospital with a suspected head injury."

Robert Forster, who lives on Littlemoor Road, said: "I came out my house to see a person laid on the floor.

"I saw about five police cars and two ambulances arrive. 

"The air ambulance was also circling earlier, but it didn't land."

Littlemoor Road was closed between Louviers Road and Canberra Crescent.

It has now reopened.
