It’s time to find your running shoes, as two fundraising events return in May.

Weldmar Hospicecare is bringing back Dorset’s Brightest Weekend to raise money for the charity.

The fourth Colour Run will be held on Saturday, May 12, where 1,5000 people scramble up/over/through ten inflatable obstacles.

Participants will run through colour stations along the course, getting covered in brightly coloured powder paint as they pass through.

Sponsoring this year’s run is Magicard, who will have their very own colour station.

Magicard is based on the Granby Industrial Estate.

Debbie Clark, Magicard’s HR manager, said: “We’re delighted to be able to support the Colour Run this year.

“Weldmar Hospicecare is such a worthy cause in Dorset and we’re happy to be able to help with their fundraising efforts. The Colour Run is always a fun day out for friends and family alike.

“We think it’s brilliant that runners of all abilities can take part and get colourful whilst also raising money for such a great charity.”

Day two of the weekend will see the return of the Bubble Rush, on Sunday, May 13.

Participants will pass through various bubble stations, getting covered in bright coloured foam.

This event also has the capacity for 1,500 participants.

Clair Walker, Weldmar’s major events fundraiser, said: “We are extremely excited to be bringing Dorset’s Brightest Weekend back to Lodmoor Country Park in May 2018. The atmosphere and feedback from last year’s weekend was just phenomenal and we are pleased that this event is able to return in May.”

“We have slightly revised the route for 2018, thanks to our friends at Weymouth Rugby Club, to make the routes even more action packed.”

This year, Weldmar will be turning the events area of Lodmoor Country Park into a family fun weekend.

There will be live music throughout each day, along with Dorset food and drink on sale, and fun for children of all ages.

Registration for both events is now open to people of all ages.

Entry costs £20 if you are over 14 years old, £12.50 for children aged five to 13 years old.

All the money raised from the 2018 Colour Run and the Bubble Rush go towards funding the care which Weldmar provides.

Last year the event raised over £95,000 and this year it is hoped that even more can be raised thanks to generosity of the participants and their sponsors.
