Police swooped on an address in Weymouth this afternoon.
Several police cars and a van were spotted outside the house on Carlton Road North.
A spokesman for Dorset Police confirmed a man has been arrested on suspicion of assault.
The spokesman added: "Officers carried out an arrest warrant at an address in Carlton Road North in Weymouth this afternoon, Tuesday 20 March 2018, in connection with an ongoing investigation into an assault offence.
"A 23-year-old local man has been arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm and is currently assisting officers with enquiries."
