PIDDLEHINTON RES 5

PIDDLEHINTON Reserves returned from a two-week absence to record an impressive 5-0 away victory against Portesham Reserves in Dorset League Division Four.

Kicking uphill after 10 minutes, Piddlehinton found themselves in front as a well-directed ball from Liam Gosney found Harry Ackerman, who slotted into the roof of the net.

Shortly after, the lead was doubled, as a deep free-kick was floated into the box to find Lloyd Wilson, who made no mistake in nodding home.

Despite the snowy conditions, Piddlehinton continued to play with patience and composure, retaining possession of the ball for extended periods. They were again rewarded on the stroke of half-time, as a quick counter-attacking move found its way to King, who stylishly rounded the keeper to make it 3-0 at the break.

In the second half, the game started to lose its flow and rhythm due to the weather but, on the hour mark, Piddlehinton made it 4-0 from a brilliant solo effort from Josh Pashon. Picking up the ball from inside his own half, Pashon ran at the opposition defenders and through a mixture of determination and trickery, he created a pathway to goal which finished with an audacious lob into the top corner.

Late on, Piddlehinton concluded the scoring, as Pashon tapped in a selfless square ball from Will Herron.

With second-placed Corfe Mullen suffering a defeat at Chickerell, Piddle’s advantage at the summit was extended to five points, with a further four games in hand over second place.

Meanwhile, in Division Two, Piddlehinton produced a brilliant display to see off high-flying Portesham 4-2.
