Get set for a cracking Easter with lots of family fun and a spring soundtrack to get music fans rocking.

The Weymouth BID will once again be hosting its Jurassic Egg Hunt for children to follow over the Easter holidays. Young explorers are invited to follow a trail of clues around the town centre to find ‘Jurassic Dino Eggs’ in shops and businesses. Entrants need to complete and return their trail form by Monday, April 16 to be in with a chance of winning a bag full of Easter goodies.

This Saturday is Roarsome Dino Day as T Rex Junior stomps into town. Events run from 11am until 3.30pm and include a Dino Passport Quest, Dino Games, Dino Mask Colouring, Dino Mask Parade and a Dino Roar Competition - all happening outside Debenhams.

Claudia Moore, chief operating officer of the Weymouth BID said: “I cannot wait to meet the dinosaurs face to face. It promises to be an exciting experience straight from Jurassic Park when T Rex Junior will thrill and, possibly, intrigue quite a few young explorers."

There are plenty of Easter egg hunts including at Abbotsbury, Lulworth Castle, Bennetts Water Gardens, Corfe Castle, and Farmer Palmer's.

Meanwhile, Boo’s Toy Shop has organised an Easter Chocolate Hunt in the Poundbury Play Park in Woodlands Crescent tomorrow starting at 10am.

Weymouth Sea Life Park also welcomes the Octonauts for the Easter holiday and their Shark Mission.

Join Captain Barnacles, Peso, Dashi, Shellington, Professor Inkling, Tweak, Kwazii and Tunip in a quest to uncover the secrets of the ocean’s most jaw-some predators.

There will be a chance to experience a meet and greet and visitors can capture their day in the photo area, while children will receive a certificate signed by Captain Barnacles to take home, and Shark Mission badge.

There's also an Easter egg hunt at Brewery Square in Dorchester from tomorrow until Easter Monday from 10am-4pm. Also this Saturday, popular children's TV entertainer Andy Day will be paying a visit to perform his dinosaur-themed rap show.

Two free performances will take place on the day with a meet and greet session after each. The first show will begin at 12pm and the second at 2pm.

Dorset Wildlife Trust has a number of events lined up across its centres and nature reserves.

Tomorrow, The Fine Foundation Chesil Beach Centre will be hosting its Eggcase Hunt from 11am until 12.30pm. At Lorton Meadows in Weymouth, join the Lorton Eggsplorers Trail tomorrow from 10.30am until 4pm.

On Thursday, April 5 from 10am until 4pm The Kingcombe Centre is celebrating the arrival of Dippy the Diplodocus in Dorset with a dinosaur-themed day.

The Fine Foundation Wild Seas Centre in Kimmeridge is holding a ‘SharkStuff Live’ day on Saturday, April 14 from 11am to 5pm.

On the live music front, the free Quayside Music Festival will be making a welcome return this weekend, running on Saturday and Sunday from 12pm onwards.

A stage will be set up outside the Rendezvous on Weymouth harbourside and there will be a hog roast and outdoor bars.

There’s also a music festival at the Boot Inn, Weymouth, on Saturday and Sunday and there’s ‘Hippy Fest’ at the Lazy Lizard on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the third Gimme Shelter festival supporting the homeless will be held at the Wyke Smugglers in Weymouth on Easter Sunday from 1pm.

It costs £5 on the door and donations for a food and clothing bank will be welcome. The line-up includes The Surfing Birds, Cuba Libre, Meat Sweats, Toxic Fish, and Mad Ox Brothers
