Today we're sharing delving into the archives again for a selection of images of trains in the area from bygone days.
The sight of steam trains chugging through the Dorset countryside is a stirring one - and a much-missed sight.
In this nostalgic picture gallery we bring you an image of the bucket and spade train on Weymouth harbourside, a locomotive pictured at Melcombe Regis before heading off to Portland, an Edwardian scene of a train at Abbotsbury station and a wonderful pre-development view of the trees and fields surrounding Upwey station in Weymouth, which was then named Broadwey station.
There's also a picture of a train arriving at Weymouth Railway Station in 1959 alongside the Royal Train, which was conveying the Queen to Weymouth and Portland for an official visit.
Also look out in one of the photos for a church close to Weymouth Railway Station which no longer exists. Christ Church, a local landmark, was demolished in early 1957.
