FROM the weather viewpoint, the Easter break in 2018 was a disaster.
Easter was too early!

It was in 325 AD that a conference of bishops decided Easter Sunday would be celebrated on the first Sunday after the first full moon following the spring equinox. So Easter can be any time between March 22 and April 25.

The same does not apply to Easter Monday, which has no religious significance.

Easter Monday only became a public holiday in Victorian times when workers had few days off and a six-day week was commonplace.

Why cannot Parliament abolish Easter Monday and in place add an extra day to the spring holiday (in 2018, Monday, May 28) to give a four-day break then when the weather is likely to be warmer and generally better?
