Having just read the article reference the use of South Walks House for housing I felt that I must write and clarify for Mr Tony Byrne that the former Crown Court building, having previously been used as offices by WDDC, is currently being transformed into a unique visitor attraction in the form of a Historic Courthouse Museum.
The venture also includes a café and a gift shop that will be open all year round. The building also offers function rooms available for hire.
The doors have been opened to the public for the performances by the Dorchester Arts group.
These attractions will bring visitors and revenue to the county town. The upper level has been converted into two flats which are currently available for rent.
Therefore the building cannot be considered for use as offices Mr Byrne.
