A thrill-seeking cancer survivor will be taking to the skies for a Christian charity after she found faith through her illness.

To celebrate being cancer free and to mark a milestone birthday, Natalie Knight, of Weymouth will face her biggest fear as she takes on a tandem skydive on Sunday.

Three years ago Natalie's life was turned upside down when she was diagnosed with non-hodgkins lymphoma which threatened her life and rocked her mental health.

"Towards the end of last year I was really emotionally down. I try to stay positive but with the cancer, it sometimes gets to me and knocks my confidence. I thought about the fact I'm turning 40 this year and said to myself 'you know what I want to do this and why not?'

"The next thing I knew I was on the internet and and was booking a tandem skydive."

It will be a tough challenge for Natalie who said she gets 'wobbly legs at the top of a step ladder' but she said she's looking forward to it nonetheless.

"It's something I said I wanted to do for years but there was no way you'd get me out of the plane. But now the more I think about it the more it puts a grin on my face," she said.

She added she chose to raise money for charity to not only support a good cause but to make sure she could not back out as people sponsored her.

Natalie, who has officially in remission for almost three years, will be raising money for Christians Against Poverty (CAP).

She said before her diagnosis she was not religious but found faith after an 'outpouring of compassion' from the local community.

"I realised I was important to people. It was a nice feeling. You don't realise how many people are invested in you as a person. It was like someone was trying to tell me I was important and I needed to fight this," she said. "I found the church was a massive way to help me emotionally i I didn't have to be strong for anyone."

"I'm doing it for CAP because I have turned towards the church and believe in what they are doing.

"I want to take this opportunity to not only feel more alive than I have ever done but to also raise both money and awareness for an amazing charity who bring good news, hope and freedom to people of the UK who are struggling with poverty, debt, unemployment and addiction."
