A college project was coming-up-roses when students put on a spectacular floral display.

Showcasing their creativity, Kingston Maurward’s Level 3 Floral Design students styled a stunning wedding photoshoot with a rural twist in the spectacular grounds of the College.

Students were tasked to design and create bridal bouquets, accessories and body adornments using a selection of floral materials.

They created bespoke and dramatic designs showing the depth of the knowledge they have gained, and the commercial speed required.

Course Manager Tracey Nadin said: “The whole project was a great success. The students really loved being so hands on, directing the models in how they wanted the overall look portrayed, giving them lots of valuable experience and building their confidence.”

To support their project, the students had access to a professional photographer, Jim Johnson – who goes under the pseudonym 'Photos by Jim' - together with Whitestem Living Tree Hire, and Swingletree vintage china hire, whose props helped to stage and style the shoot.

The students thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity of directing the style of the images, working with professionals and understanding the technical skills required for such a project. All the images produced will go forward to a final portfolio of their work.

A spokesman for the college said: "The Floral Design department at Kingston Maurward College constantly seeks out inspiring ways to engage students in activities which will allow them to demonstrate the creative skills they have learned during their course."

The spokesman thanked the 'excellent models' for stepping up to the challenge, Scott Lidgett who is studying a Foundation Degree in marine ecology and conservation at Kingston Maurward, and student Jay Cockett's friend, Leanne Mills - plus Pandora the Pug.
