Firefighters joined forces with a local pre-school for a community fundraiser.
A charity car wash took place at Dorchester fire station on Sunday to raise money for The Fire Fighters Charity and The Grove Pre-School.
Firefighters washed cars and provided fire safety advice while parents from The Grove Pre-School sold cakes and coffee to people waiting for their cars to be cleaned.
A total of £1,052.40 was raised from the fundraiser which will be split between the fire station and the pre-school.
Kim Whitfield of Grove Pre-School said: “It has been more successful than we could have imagined.
"The firemen haven't stopped working, they work so hard. Everyone has been so generous. People have been donating £20 or so and bringing more than one car."
She also thanked the firemen who volunteered their time as well as the parents of the children from the pre-school.
Robbie Tompkins, area manager of Dorchester fire station, said some of the firefighter's children attend the pre-school.
He added that people were very generous and were donating more than the suggested donation of £5. He also explained how a couple of residents brought more than one car to the station to be cleaned, including retired police inspector Les Fry, who he said brought three cars to support the station.
