PLANT SALE

A PLANT sale is being held in aid of the RSPB. It will be held at the United Church Hall on South Street from 10am on Saturday, May 12.

There will be plants, books, bric-a-brac, cakes and refreshments.

Entry is free and everyone is welcome.

ORCHESTRA PERFORMANCE

THE Dorchester Chamber Orchestra will be performing at St Mary’s Church on Saturday, May 12.

The performance will start at 7.30pm and will include classical music such as Vivaldi and Mozart.

DISCUSSING HISTORY

A TALK on the Late Iron and Roman Age will be held at the Dorford Centre from 7.30pm on Saturday, May 12.

There be a range of speakers talking on behalf of the Dorchester Association for Research into local History and Archaeology.

CHURCH SERVICE

AN Ecumenical Service will be held at St George's Church in Fordington from 4pm onwards.

The service will be led by Allen Knott, licensed lay minister.

Reverend John Plant will also be attending who is the national church relations manager at Christian Aid.

The Mayor of Dorchester, Cllr Susie Hosford, has also been invited.

It will be held on Sunday, May 13.

BAND TO THE STAND

THE Durnovia Silver Band will be performing at the Borough Gardens from 2.30pm on Sunday, May 13.

They will be one of the first bands taking to the stand this year.

TALK, MUSIC AND POETRY

THE William Barnes Society has organised a talk at the Dorford Centre from 7pm onwards on Tuesday, May 15.

It is entitled, ‘The Serpent and its Local Connections’ and will include a talk, music and poetry by Phil Humphries.

CHRISTIAN AID MARKET

A CHRISTIAN Aid Market will be held at the United Church on Wednesday, May 16 from 9.45am until 1.45pm.

There will be a host of stalls, plus coffee, tea and food.

The market will be opened my the Mayor of Dorchester, Cllr Susie Hosford.

SPONSORED WALK

AN EIGHT-miles sponsored walk has been organised from St Peter's Church to Bowleaze Cove.

It has been organised for Saturday, May 19.

Anyone interested should meet at St Peter's Church just before 9.30am.

CRAFT ACADEMY

A HALF term craft academy will be held at Dorset County Museum on Wednesday, May 30.

It will run from 10.30am until 3.30pm.

Children aged five to 11 must be accompanied by an adult.

FILM TIME

THE Dorset Palestinian Israeli Peace Group are showing the acclaimed film, Lemontree, on Wednesday, June 20.

The film will be shown at the Dorford Centre at 7pm.

There will be refreshments on sale.

LOOKING BACK

ROB Curtis will be giving a talk at the Dorford Centre on behalf of the Dorchester Association for Research into local History and Archaeology.

It will be held on Thursday, May 31 and is entitled 'Turnpikes and Dorset's Coaching Days'.

It will start at 7.30pm and everyone is welcome.

RAISING AWARENESS

COELIACS are invited to a get-together to mark Coeliac Awareness Week.

The Dorchester Support Group to Coeliac UK will be holding the event on Monday, May 14, at the Engine Room Restaurant in Poundbury.

There will be tea, coffee and gluten-free cake, and participants will have the opportunity to learn more about what Coeliac UK does.

The event will kick off at 3pm, and costs £5 per participant, with proceeds to Coeliac UK.

On Wednesday, May 16 there will also be a gathering at Damers Restaurant at Dorset County Hospital between 11am and 3pm.

Everyone is welcome to come along - there will be a cake-cutting a 11.30pm, following by lunch and refreshments and there will also be a chance to meet the dietitians and ask any questions.

Coeliac Awareness Week runs from May 14 until May 20.

FASHION SHOW

A FASHION show with a difference is coming to Poundbury this month.

The event will be held at The Duchess of Cornwall in Queen Mother Square on Wednesday, May 16 from 12.30pm until 2.15pm and will be raising funds for Weldmar Hospicecare.

It has been put together with the help of Jasminka Hansson and the creative minds of Medusa Apothecary in Dorchester.

The show will feature new Medusa summer lines woven around a three-course lunch, a bubbly welcome drink and special goody bags.

THE Dorset CCG Patient Participation Group (PPGs) is hosting a networking event on Thursday, May 24.

It will be held at the Dorford Centre from 2pm until 4.30pm.
